The Electoral Commission Praises The Media For Their Up-to-date Professional Coverage

The media’s excellent work prior to, during, and after the 2024 elections has been praised by Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC).

The media played a vital role in keeping the public informed during the election process, and the commission thanked them for that.

Dr. Serebour Quaicoo, the Director of Training, praised the media for their dedication to factual reporting and called for continued professionalism during his remarks at the Commission’s third briefing.

“The Commission appreciates its relationship with the media. Your role in informing and educating the public is invaluable, and we commend your colleagues in the field for their excellent work so far,” Dr. Quaicoo stated.

He underlined the value of truthful reporting and thanked the media for not giving out proliferation of false information and deepfakes, which could have eroded public confidence.

He thanked the media for always verifying before publishing.

Meawhile, the seamless voting process was facilitated by the effective operation of Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs), according to the EC.

However, the Commission has also served as an inclusivity committee, making sure that vulnerable populations—including pregnant women, nursing mothers, the elderly, and people with disabilities—receive special treatment at polling places.

While some still choose assisted voting, voters with visual impairments were also permitted to use tactile jackets.

Dr. Quaicoo highlighted the importance of security guards and political party agents in preserving peace and equity throughout the elections and commended their collaboration.
