
The qualifiers for the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) are currently underway. To qualify for the biggest football tournament on the continent, all participating teams are working extremely hard.
Fifteen teams have already guaranteed their spots in the eagerly awaited competition in Morocco, with just a few qualifiers remaining.
Six more countries, including Nigeria, Tunisia, South Africa, Uganda, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon, secured their spots on Matchday 5 following Thursday, November 14’s results.
These countries join an increasing number of African football powerhouses that are prepared for the tournament.
The qualified teams are a mix of established AFCON contenders and up-and-coming African football powerhouses.
Along with well-known teams like Senegal and Algeria, who earned early qualification through steady play, host country Morocco also qualified automatically.
With multiple AFCON titles under their belts, Egypt and champion Cote d’Ivoire also bring significant legacies to the competition.
In fact, a number of teams have returned to the continental competition so far.
Uganda and Gabon are returning with hopes of making it far in the tournament, while DR Congo, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea will try to make an impression.

After past setbacks, South Africa’s qualification signifies their return to the continent’s premier football competition.
The qualification process is still ongoing. The remaining teams will be confirmed in Matchday 5 matches, completing the Morocco 2025 24-nation roster.
