The Most Sold Car In The World 2023

Tesla Y

A set of statistics compiled for Motor1 indicate that Tesla’s Model Y is the first electric vehicle to hold the global sales lead for a period.

A completely electric vehicle has topped global sales rankings for the first time. The Tesla Model Y was the world’s best-selling vehicle in the first quarter of 2023, according to data for 53 markets around the world, as well as information for other key markets and estimates for other markets.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, made the announcement that the Model Y would become the world’s best-selling new vehicle in 2023 during the annual shareholders meeting in August 2022. Despite the brand’s rapid expansion, the high average price of this mid-size SUV made it an optimistic target at the time.

However, Tesla’s global expansion and recent price cuts are driving up demand for the Model Y, which was the third best-selling vehicle in 2022, behind only two very well-known models: both the Toyota Corolla and the Toyota RAV4.

Tesla sold 747,500 Model Ys across 152 markets, representing a 91% increase from 2021 sales.

The Model Y sold 268,000 fewer units than the RAV4 and 244,000 fewer than the Corolla sedan. As Tesla has continued to reduce the prices of its vehicles and the EV boom has gained even more traction, the gap between the two models has begun to narrow.

Heart to heart Between Model Y and Corolla
Information gathered for the first quarter shows the Tesla Model Y leading the pack with 267,200 units sold.

Compared to the same time last year, that represents an increase of approximately 69%. The Model Y did well in China, which is its primary market, in the United States, where it is up 68%, and in Europe, where it became the most popular car.

The Toyota Corolla, which has long been one of the most popular cars in the world, sold 256,400 fewer units in a downward trend. This includes a decrease of 10% in the United States and 29% in China.

The most recent model of the Toyota Corolla was unveiled in March of that year, while the Tesla Model Y was unveiled in March of that year. Since there isn’t much of a gap between the two, anything could happen before the end of the year.

Tesla’s New Factory In Germany To Produce 500,000 Vehicles In A Year

The fact that Corolla is sold in nearly every country in the world makes it a truly global product. As an example, it is less susceptible to any geopolitical conflicts between China and the United States.

Three additional Toyotas complete the top five: Camry, RAV4, and Hilux The RAV4 and Camry are made for developed markets, whereas the Hilux is still the best option for economies in transition. The missing component of Tesla’s expansion is its presence in these markets, which account for a fifth of global vehicle sales.

Over 45,000 Superchargers are available from the manufacturer worldwide, and six new locations open each week.

The driver has a commanding view of the road ahead thanks to the vehicle’s low dashboard and elevated seating position. The Model Y’s interior is clean and simple.
