Renowned Ghanaian journalist and ‘Good Evening Ghana’ host Paul Adom-Otchere has narrated how National Security had tried to detain him at the airport on a Sunday, May 25, 2025.
According to Adom-Otchere, who recounted the incident, he received text messages asking if he was traveling to Ghana from the United Kingdom. Among the text messages were two that read:
“Take caution because National Security wants to pick you up in the same manner as they did Kwabena Adu-Boahen”.
“Coincidentally, I was traveling with someone else on the trip, and he also approached me and advised me to exercise caution because he had just been told that they wanted to pick me up when we arrive at the airport,” Adom-Otchere stated.
His phone started ringing abruptly, warning him to exercise caution as the NIB was watching him at the airport.
They say, you talk too much. You sit on TV every day and you talk about everything, and even after NDC is in power, you will not stop that your foolish program.”, the informant told Paul Adom-Otchere.
The seasoned journalist said, as he was waiting for his bags at the terminal on arrival, a friend called to tell him to drop them off and leave the airport grounds right away.
“So I went to someone important I knew at Burma Camp after leaving the airport.”
Paul told the big man his experience, and he also made a few calls and checks to confirm it. In the interim, the man housed him. His bags arrived later.
Paul Adom-Otchere said he was later told by a prominent figure in Ghana not to travel anytime soon because they intend to make a spectacle out of him in handcuffs and everything.
Interestingly, Adom-Otchere claims to have a ticket to the Munich Champions League final. His preparations appear to be on hold at this time, as he has been informed with certainty that the NIB will be silent during his departure, but there will be a spectacle upon his return.
Adom-Otchere said, ever since this experience, he drives in town with extreme caution.
