Lamisi

Regina Lamisi Awiniman Anabilla Akuka, better known by her stage name Lamisi, is an incredible Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and performer. She has been honored in the Netherlands for her work in alternative music and for introducing her global audience to the rich Ghanaian culture.

The musician was one of a number of distinguished Ghanaians and professionals from the diaspora who received awards for flying the Ghanaian flag high and making various contributions to the country’s development.

On Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Schepenbergweg in Amsterdam, the musician received recognition from the Representative Council of Ghanaian Organizations in the Netherlands (RECOGIN) and the Embassy of Ghana in the Netherlands.

Lamisi’s Music Career Is Bright As A Button

His Excellency Francis Danti Kotia, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, presented a plaque to Lamisi. She was then praised for her achievements over the years in representing her people and remaining faithful to her culture, as evidenced by her performances, costumes, and music.

“It is important we are doing this today as it shows great respect for you, the others, and the rules you have decided to live by. Honour helps us act in a way that lives up to high ideals, looks out for vulnerable people, and makes a way forward that is better than what has come before; better for everyone. We are convinced this is going to urge you to do more and we also believe that greater things are yet to come for you”, he added.

This ceremony was essential for activities to mark the celebration of Ghana’s autonomy commemoration named “Ghana @ 66 Festival“, coordinated by RECOGIN and supported by the Consulate of Ghana in the Netherlands, and Akwaaba Holland. To top off the ceremony, Lamisi gave an outstanding performance.
