Former President Nana Akufo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership have been the target of harsh criticism from political analyst Yaw Asani Tano in recent times. He has voiced worries that the new NPP leadership may cause the party to deteriorate if it includes people who were close to Akufo-Addo.
Tano has said that Akufo-Addo’s leadership was the reason behind the NPP’s electoral defeats, calling him “the worst and most dangerous president Ghana has ever had.” Additionally, he attacked Akufo-Addo’s leadership style, saying it has demolished the NPP and regressed Ghana.
Yaw Asani Tano stressed in a recent commentary on April 22, 2025, that the NPP faces catastrophic collapse if it keeps those connected to Akufo-Addo’s administration in its leadership.
He said, if the party wants to progress after the heavy defeat in the 2024 election, they ought to oust all those who was associated with the Akufo-Addo leadership.
