The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has denied Kwabena Adu Boahen’s allegation that he used the embezzled monies with certain political parties and individuals in an interview with Asempa FM’s “Ekosii Sen” on May 9, 2025, calling it a conscious effort to downplay the important issue. Gbande further claimed that Atta Akyea, Aduboahen’s attorney, was masterminding this story.
“Claims that they were spent in cooperation with particular political groups are untrue”, Gbande said.
The Deputy General Secretary added that, it was a deliberate attempt to deflect attention away from the main concerns of accountability and suspected financial malfeasance. He charged that Atta Akyea and the rest of Aduboahen’s legal team had purposefully created this story to obscure the case’s facts.
“This is an obvious strategy to minimize the substantive matter.” “The public must not be mislead,” he added, adding that they are attempting to transfer blame and cause confusion.
According to Adu Boahen, who is currently the subject of a well-publicized embezzlement inquiry, some of the stolen money was used for political activities that involved several different people and parties. Gbande, however, maintains that the goal must continue to be recovering the money that was taken and making sure that justice is done.
