The Holy See Press Office announced this on Thursday March 3. Pope Francis will be traveling to these countries after an invitation from the overall Heads of States and Bishops.
The Pope will now be visiting Kinshasa and Goma in DRC from 2 to 5 July, prior to going to Juba, in South Sudan, from 5 to 7 July 2022.
The DRC has 5.6 million dislodged people, a large portion of whom live in the eastern piece of the country, in North and South Kivu, Ituri, and Tanganyika territories.
In the mean time, Pope Francis’ upcoming visit to South Sudan will make him the first Pope to go to South Sudan.
