The SME Growth and Opportunity Programme Has Been Launched

The Government of Ghana, through the Ministries of Finance and Trade and Industry and partnering agencies has launched the SME Growth and Opportunity Programme at a summit on Tuesday 16th July 2024.

The SME Programme prioritizes coordination between partnering agencies to ensure the targeted delivery of financial and technical support to high-growth potential SMEs.

The Summit which was under the theme “Breaking Barriers to SME Growth” brought together about 150 selected participants from the private sector, academia, business regulatory and compliance institutions, media, industry, multilateral and bilateral partners as well as financial service providers.

The summit was aimed at enhancing partnerships, mobilise diverse financial resources for SMEs growth and expansion and provide a platform for public and private sector actors to advocate inclusive policies and strategies required to foster SME growth in Ghana.

Finance Ministry Engage Academia In Economic Policy And Economic Growth

The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo launched the SME Growth and Opportunity Programme at the summit.

Other key speakers who were present at the event include— Minister for Finance, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister for Trade and Industries, Hon K.T Hammond, Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison, and President of the African Development Bank Group, Dr Akinwumi Adesina.

The event brought together SMEs, financial service providers, business and regulatory compliance institutions and also featured an exhibition of SME products.

The partnering agencies are Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), and the Ghana EXIM Bank, the Development Bank Ghana (DBG), and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
