For the 2024–2025 season, the UEFA Champions League has adopted a new format. A single league phase, consisting of 36 teams, has taken the place of the previous group stage. Each team plays eight games against various opponents, four of which are played at home and four away.
While teams ranked ninth through twenty-four enter two-leg knockout play-offs to guarantee their spots in the round of sixteen, the top eight teams from this phase go straight to the Round of 16.
The top eight teams and their matchups for the knockout phase play-offs were decided by the league phase’s conclusion on January 29, 2025. The dates of the playoffs were February 11/12 and 18/19.
In the Round of 16, these teams join the top eight from the league phase.
Meanwhile, on February 21, 2025, the round of 16 draw was revealed. The matchups for the next fixtures will be decided by this. The first legs of the Round of 16 are scheduled for March 4–5, and the second legs are scheduled for March 11–12, 2025.

In the league phase, Liverpool was able to secure the top spot. Third place went to Arsenal.
Additionally, Aston Villa merited a place in the top eight. Manchester City advanced through the knockout phase play-offs to the Round of 16 following a pivotal 3-1 victory over Club Brugge.
