The road to the Olympic Games Paris 2024 goes through Eugene, Oregon, for Team USA’s track and field stars.
With spots for the Olympics up for grabs beginning on June 21 at Hayward Field, Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will compete alongside fellow world champions Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson and a cast of elite athletes from the United States.
The men’s 100-meter race has the most power, with Christian Coleman, the 2019 world champion, Fred Kerley, the Tokyo Olympic silver medalist and 2022 world champion, Kenneth Bednarek, the 200-meter Olympic champion and world medalist, and Cravont Charleston, the surprise national champion a year ago, among others.
Every one of Lyles, Bednarek, Coleman and King are set for the 200m which likewise includes Erriyon Knighton, a double cross world medallist in the occasion.
Sha’Carri Richardson has had a shining most recent a year, winning the U.S. title on this very track a year ago to proceeding to guarantee her first world title in Budapest in August 2023. She also won bronze at Worlds in the 200-meter race. In Eugene, she will try to qualify for the Olympic team in both sprint events.
After McLaughlin-Levrone missed the Worlds last year due to a knee injury, excellence has followed her every time she touches the track in 2024. In her respective season debuts for the 400m and 400m hurdles, she set world records for 2024 and also impressed last month in the 200m.
