The Unique Galaxy S25 Recognized For Eco-Friendly Design At The ReMA Awards

The Recycled Materials Association (ReMA), a prominent trade association committed to encouraging recycling and circular innovation, has presented Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S25 with the 2025 Design for Recycling Award, the highest honor for leadership in sustainable product design.

Samsung’s creative attempts to increase the usage of recycled materials and accomplish more with less natural resources are honored with this award. The Galaxy S25 is the first Galaxy product to employ recycled cobalt, which is a vital component of batteries and is obtained from Samsung’s innovative Circular Battery Supply Chain. This technique helps to reuse precious resources and lessens the requirement for newly-mined cobalt by recovering cobalt from batteries and Galaxy devices that have been used and abandoned throughout the manufacturing process.

“By integrating design for recycling concepts into every stage of Galaxy S25, Samsung has shown true leadership,” said Robin Wiener, President of the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA). Their usage of a variety of recycled materials demonstrates their unwavering dedication to creating innovative and environmentally conscious products that we depend on on a daily basis.

Building on its progress in battery recycling, the Galaxy S25 features eight different recycled materials across its components, including aluminum, rare earth elements like neodymium and steel. For the first time, recycled material has been integrated into armor aluminum frame, ensuring that every external component of Galaxy S25 contains at least one recycled material. The Galaxy S25 series packaging box is also made with 100% recycled paper, eliminating single-use plastics.

These initiatives support Samsung’s broader environmental goals, including working toward transitioning to 100 percent renewable energy across global DX operations by 2027 and incorporating at least one recycled material in every module of every mobile product by 2030 investing in innovative eco-conscious materials without compromising strength, aesthetics or durability.

The award ceremony was held on May 14 at the ReMA Convention in San Diego, California.
