Highlife legend Kwaisey Pee has deplored about the mindset of Ghanaians on many issues concerning the country.
Speaking on ‘Adom Entertainment Hall’ on Saturday January 20, the singer- songwriter spoke lengthily about issues emerging in the music business, which eventually wandered into how Ghanaians respond to issues that would have helped the country’s development, but rather ‘pull down’ each beneficial thing despite everything.
He said the citizens themselves have politicized everything in the country to such a degree that, when all appears to be going the incorrect way and you complain, you’ll be labeled as an ally or supporter of a specific political party. ” This is our problem“, he bitterly complained.
Kwaisey Pee also talked about the indiscipline level and how anybody can do all that he wants in Ghana because he has money to ‘control affairs’.
The singer claims that Ghanaians are their own problem because if you choose to fight for them, you become the target of a lot of them, with attacks on you without any apparent reason. The music producer reckons that the regulations or laws in Ghana are just not sufficiently able to punish guilty parties in the country.
When asked about what he would change in Ghana if offered the biggest chance, Kwaisey Pee did not waste time to say he will deal with reckless drivers in the country. He said:
”How people drive in this country is very bad. No one cares about how they drive. In Ghana every one is a licensed driver. But I think they are not. They are rather licensed to kill. Unfortunately, If you are an ordinary citizen or one who has money in this country, you have access to everything, regardless of whether you go through the process or not.”
The singer described an experience he had when he was on his way to Adom FM’s studios, in which a “trotro” (commercial vehicle driver) drove recklessly and nearly hit his car.

He went on to say that before getting a driver’s license, you have to go through all the steps in other European countries, especially in the UK, where he lives. He said he went through all the cycle for a long time prior to procuring a permit to drive. But in Ghana it’s an alternate case.
He concluded that bad driving on our roads, not witchcraft, causes the majority of accidents in Ghana.
Accidents:
According to the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Greater Accra recorded 4,876 road crashes from January to October 2023 with 399 deaths. Out of the over 4,876 accidents, 7,807 were severely injured.
With this records, Kwaisey Pee believes if proper measures are not immediately put in place, the numbers will be worse this year.
