Thomas Tuchel has been appointed as England’s new manager by the English Football Association.

The 51-year-old former Chelsea manager will take over permanently from Gareth Southgate.

Tuchel was fired the following year after leading the Blues to Champions League glory in 2021.

The FA has offered Tuchel an 18-month contract that will begin on January 1, 2025.

As a result of the appointment, Lee Carsley will continue to be in charge of the Nations League games against Greece and the Republic of Ireland next month.

On Tuesday, October 15, Tuchel and the Football Association began preliminary discussions.

Although chief executive Mark Bullingham and technical director John McDermott have been in discussions with Tuchel since last month, the FA has not commented on widespread reports linking the former Chelsea manager with the position that will be filled by Gareth Southgate after Euro 2024.

After Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello, the 51-year-old would become the third non-Englishman to hold the position.

The German has a lot of experience, having managed Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in addition to leading Chelsea to Champions League glory in 2021.
