Those Into Galamsey Are Too Stubborn: Shoot To Kill Is The Best Option—Ama Daaku

Political commentator and NPP Communication team member, Ama Daaku has urged President John Mahama to take drastic measures to stop illegal mining (galamsey), which continues to destroy Ghana’s water bodies and farmlands.

Speaking on Angel FM with Saddick Adams on Monday, October 13, 2025, Ama Daaku said, her personal wish is for the President to declare a “shoot and kill” order to deal with those engaged in the activity.

According to her, most people involved in galamsey are extremely stubborn and show no regard for the concerns of the public or environmental authorities.

“These people are stubborn. They don’t care about all the noise Ghanaians are making. Even when they are warned, they go right back to destroy the rivers,” she lamented.

Ama Daaku further blamed the activities of illegal miners for the growing number of health problems in the country, claiming that many of the serious ailments being recorded are linked to the polluted water Ghanaians are consuming.

The ‘Big Men’ Behind Galamsey Will Soon Be Named

She added that, those on the water bodies are even the most annoying people who show no regard for the people’s cry.

“The rise in diseases and strange sicknesses these days is because of the bad water people are drinking. If something is not done immediately, the future will be worse,” she added.

Galamsey continues to pose a major threat to Ghana’s environment despite years of campaigns, military interventions, and policy reforms aimed at eradicating it.
