Tiwa Savage’s New Album: A Work Born From Pain, Sweat & Tears

Afrobeats powerhouse Tiwa Savage has officially confirmed the release of her long‑teased fifth studio album, provisionally titled ‘This One Is Personal‘, characterizing it as the most vulnerable and honest music she’s ever recorded.

The album was recorded in Nashville, Lagos, London, San Francisco, and Malibu, merging varied musical influences and live instrumentation to achieve a truly global feel.

According to Savage, the process is emotional and draining, consisting of “pain, sweat, and literal tears.”

Tiwa Savage made references to the introspective and solo songs that were connected to her experiences of parenthood and loss. She specifically mentioned the first song, “I am Done,” in which she sobbed in the recording studio and her voice changed in emotion throughout the song.

The teaser, which was shared via an Instagram sample on April 21, 2025, begins with spoken-word phrases such as:

“This one is personal. It’s for every time I fell and still found a way to shine… every lesson dressed in pain…”

The album addresses themes of resilience, identity, and emotional transparency—combining Afrobeats with R&B, soul, and live orchestration recorded in multiple creative hubs.

Tiwa described the project as marking a “Phoenix era” in her life—reclaiming her power after personal and artistic trials.

One of the tracks, “You 4 Me,” was released before the album’s release and established the tone with soulful R&B infused with Tiwa’s unique flair from the 1990s.

With its genre-defying production and unadulterated emotional narrative, the entire album is now available.

The multiple award-winning singer says, she is now embarking on a daring new chapter of unreserved candor and imaginative reinvention. Fans should enjoy an album that has resonance well beyond the beat as “This One Is Personal” captures her suffering, resilience, and growth.
