Naa Momo Lartey (MP), Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, has urged people to offer up their prayers for President John Mahama. She believes that in order for the President to remain in his position of leadership, supernatural intervention is necessary.
As the special guest of honor at the 7th Regional Council Meeting of the Greater Accra East Region of the Assemblies of God Church in Shai Hills, Naa Momo asked the congregation to pray for God’s blessing so that President Mahama can change Ghana’s fortunes.
The MP from Krowor recalled the prayers said for Mahama before his elevation to the country’s highest post, as the President.
“We prayed for grace, mercies, and favor to ascend to the highest office of the land, and the Lord granted it unto us—we are now the light, and everyone is looking up to us,” she said.
She urged the congregation to keep praying for the President, particularly for him to continue to lead with strength and effectiveness.
“It is upon all of us to hold up the hands of John Dramani Mahama so they remain raised—so that the sun will stand still, the light will shine, and the world will see that he has truly been called to lead,” Lartey continued.
Additionally, she urged people to pray for Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, especially for her well-being.
Rev. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, highlighted the significance of intercessory prayer for the country, saying that Divine intervention is vital, even as human effort is important.

He urged the audience to abstain from social vices and support the advancement of the country.
Rev. Andrews Nelson Awintia, the regional superintendent, also discussed the church’s emphasis on making prayer a major part of daily life and emphasized how it contributes to national unity, peace, and economic advancement.
Naa Momo Lartey gave the church GH₵200,000 from President Mahama and GH₵20,000 from herself as a token of appreciation for their ongoing support. The church, under the direction of Rev. Stephen Wengam, gave her a commendation in exchange.
