Legendary singer Toni Braxton is covertly engaging a constant sickness. She was diagnosed to have lupus — an immune system illness, in 2008 that is currently undermining her music career. Interestingly, Toni Braxton’s mom additionally battled with this condition too.
Now, as she makes that big appearance for her Las Vegas residency, she drills down into her apprehensions and tensions.
Toni Braxton was diagnosed to have fundamental lupus erythematosus (SLE), a persistent immune system illness back in 2008. This immune system disease accompanies a ton of side effects that can play with various pieces of the body.
Performing in Las Vegas with Cedric the Entertainer for her ‘Love & Laughter’ residency, this is her first set of shows since she had to have emergency heart surgery in 2022.

During a recent chat with PEOPLE, Braxton said,
“I’ve been feeling okay, that’s been the anxiety, just making sure I’m ready.”
Despite the fact that her PCP (doctor) gave her the thumbs up for the shows, she actually stresses over having a lupus discharge up any time.
“But the man upstairs said it’s going to be okay, so I know I’m going to be alright,” Braxton added.
Regardless of her apprehensions, her confidence assists her vibe with bettering. She has hopes that all will be well since she puts trust in the more powerful God looking after her and aiding her through her difficult stretches.

She at first faced pressure to keep her illness hidden, especially in the spotlight of her career. In a recent podcast episode of SHE MD, Braxton opened up about her journey alongside rheumatologist, Dr. Daniel Wallace.
“For the longest time, I was ashamed. I was told to hide that I had lupus,” recalls Braxton.
Sadly, Braxton was struggling to get the right treatment for this ailment. Doctors brushed off her worries, making her feel nobody understood her. This made her feel anxious all the time like nobody cared about her health concerns.
Braxton’s journey with lupus extends far beyond her own struggles. She uses her platform to advocate for awareness, urging others not to let the disease define them.
