
The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer paid a visit to the Ghana Concert Party Union (GCPU) at the Art Centre in Accra on Thursday, 4th July 2024.
In the past, Concert Party was well-known throughout Ghana. The weekend show expressed the identities, aesthetics, symbols, and underlying value orientations of Ghanaian practitioners and audiences in distinctive ways that graced Ghana’s screens and theaters.
The Concert Party group, a professional ensemble of actors, brought the nation to an entertaining period of theatrical performances by combining slapstick musical comedies, folk tales, acrobatics, moral sermons, magical displays, and dance-music sessions.
The revival of the union and its activities formed the core of the engagement. The Minister recognized the significance of their role since its initiation, and the way in which it brought forth the country to an entertaining period of theatrical performances.
Hon. Mercer guaranteed the group of his order to the leadership of the National Theatre to present to him, appropriate steps for the revival of the Union, for necessary action to be taken.

The Minister also intends to build amphitheatres, renovate the union’s meeting place, and establish a concert party television channel.
Mr. Daniel K. Adu, President of the Concert Party Union, as well as all of the union’s leadership and members expressed gratitude to the Minister and his staff for their prompt intervention and expressed the union’s readiness to respond to any Ministry request.
