UBA Business Series: Female Leaders On Change And Special Opportunities

United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, Africa’s Global Bank, hosted the quarterly edition of its Business Series event in honor of 2025 International Women’s Month. At the event, trailblazing female leaders from a variety of industries shared their personal perspectives on redefining success, overcoming systemic obstacles, and bringing about change.

The hybrid event, which took place at UBA House’s Tony Elumelu Amphitheatre, reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to promoting gender parity, fostering opportunity, and enabling women to leave enduring legacies in their enterprises and careers.

Among the distinguished and successful women on the panel were Nancy Isime, an award-winning actor and entrepreneur, Mrs. Flora Fabyan, Managing Director of BOI Investment and Trust Company Limited, Faraja Kotta Nyalandu, former Attorney General and Board Chairman of Africa Prudential Plc, Chief (Mrs.) Eniola Fadayomi, and the founder and CEO of Shule Direct, who joined from Tanzania.

Several prominent personalities attended the special UBA Business Series at the Tony Elumelu Amphithetre, UBA House, in Lagos, including Nollywood actress Nancy Isime.

The essential need for inclusive opportunities and systemic change was highlighted by the insightful observations provided by each panelist on how they overcame gender bias, navigated their professions and enterprises despite all odds, and achieved financial and professional independence.

Faraja Kotta Nyalandu considered the significant influence women have on the future in her response, highlighting the value of opportunity and education.

Speaking on the value of women’s financial independence, Nancy Isime counseled women to think creatively and carve out a place for themselves.

“Financial independence is crucial. Your life choices, especially who you partner with, is critical to building financial stability and generational wealth. Budgeting, investing wisely, and educating yourself are key steps.”

Speaking about the event’s importance, UBA’s Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communication, Alero Ladipo, praised the bank for organizing it and stated that UBA is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion by creating an atmosphere that empowers women to succeed and take on leadership roles in various sectors.
