Portugal and Juventus’ goal poacher, Cristiano Ronaldo added another remarkable accomplishment to his list of soccer qualifications by scoring his 100th goal for Portugal on Tuesday, September 2020.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner recorded this accomplishment with a grand free-kick in Portugal’s 2-0 win over Sweden in the ongoing Nations League.
Ronaldo added a subsequent goal to draw even nearer to the record for the most highest international goalscorer ever. He has scored 48 goals in 47 international games since turning 30.
Ronaldo has expanded his lead over Argentina’s Lionel Messi to 31 international strikes. Ali Daei of Iran is the only player to have scored more international goals than the Juventus star.
Ali Daei has 109 goals, a record which came during an international career that extended from 1993 to 2006.
