The Conference’s goal is to assist in the development of a new, ambitious plan of action for the Least Developed Countries. The Doha Programme of Action was approved in New York on March 17, 2022, following the completion of the implementation period for the Istanbul Programme of Action (IPoA) for the Least Developed Countries.

As a result, the second part of LDC5 will take a comprehensive look at the best ways to implement the IPoA, mobilize additional international support measures and actions in their favor, and agree on a new partnership between LDCs and their development partners to overcome structural challenges, eradicate poverty, chart ways for countries to achieve internationally agreed development goals, and allow graduation from the LDC category.
