Unity Cup 2025: Nigeria Beat Ghana To Secure A Final

Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated Ghana’s Black Stars 2-1 on Wednesday, May 28 at the GTech Community Stadium in London in the 2025 Unity Cup semifinals.

In the 14th minute, Cyriel Dessers headed in a cross from Sodiq Ismaila to give Nigeria the lead. Five minutes later, Ghana’s luck ran out as Razak Simpson unintentionally gave Nigeria a ‘gift’ with an own goal.

Brandon Thomas-Asante’s goal in the 70th minute of the second half gave Ghana a response, but the Stars were unable to equalize.

Nigeria will now take on Jamaica on Saturday, May 31 in the Unity Cup final. In contrast, Ghana will face Trinidad and Tobago in the playoffs for third place.

Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago are the four teams competing in the Unity Cup.

The forthcoming game gives the Black Stars a chance to end the competition well and earn a podium place.
