University Of Ghana Secures 33 Remarkable Medals At The FASU Games

At the 11th Federation of African University Sports (FASU) Games, which were held in Lagos, Nigeria, from September 20th to September 29th, 2024, the University of Ghana put on an incredible performance, winning 33 medals overall.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the Lagos State University (LASU) co-hosted the prestigious biennial event for the eleventh time.

Student-athletes from all over the continent competed in a variety of sports at the competition.

University of Ghana partook in six sporting disciplines: badminton, football, tennis, volleyball, swimming, and athletics.

UG student-athletes competed against 67 other African universities and demonstrated their dedication and talents, winning an impressive 33 medals.

The most medals the University of Ghana has ever won in a single international sporting event were these nine gold, 10 silver, and 14 bronze.

UG finished fourth overall in the tournament standings and first in athletics and volleyball thanks to this remarkable medal haul.

UG emerged as the highest ranked among the institutions from Ghana that took part in the competition.
