Veep Bawumia To Cut The Number Of His Ministers Down

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice president of Ghana, has pledged to reduce the number of government ministerial appointments to fifty if elected president.

Bawumia emphasized that effective governance does not require a large number of ministers when he spoke at the NPP’s manifesto launch on Sunday (18 August) in Takoradi.

He claims that his government will have not more than 50 ministers, demonstrating his dedication to a more focused and effective executive branch.

Dr. Bawumia also talked about plans to switch from buying essentials outright to leasing them, like cars and printing equipment. The goal of this strategy is to save a lot of money each year and reduce costs associated with maintenance.

“My government will move towards leasing rather than outright purchase of goods such as vehicles, printing equipment, and so on. The private sector will have the responsibility for maintaining the equipment. With this approach, the budget can save a very significant amount of outright cash expenditure annually from various items across the Ministries,” he said.
