Vekic Knocks Out Coco Gauff From Women’s Singles After An Awesome Turnaround

Coco Gauff, who carried the USA flag at the Opening Ceremony with LeBron James, broke Donna Vekic of Croatia’s serve and took the lead in the first set with a score of 4-1.

Gauff, won the US Open last year, and her partner, CZE’s Kateina Siniaková, also won the women’s double title at the French Open earlier this year.

Gauff was hoping to set a new court record against Donna Vekic, but there was a turnaround, and Gauff lost to Vekic in the women’s singles competition.

The Croatian player was down 1-4 in the first set, but he found reserves to save three set points, take Gauff to tie-break, and then won the set!

In the subsequent set, Vekic broke Gauff’s serve in Game 6 preceding dominating the following two matches to take the match to progress to the following round.

Gauff was understandably shocked and upset by the outcome, and even wept. She didn’t have the best match of her career, experiencing seven twofold blames and failed to score a single ace.

But the truth of the matter is, her Paris 2024 experience isn’t finished at this point. In the competitions women’s doubles and mixed doubles, she still stands a chance of winning a medal.
