There Was Nothing Venus Williams Could Do After The Winds Contributed To Her Defeat
Numerous fans were anticipating that Venus Williams should have dominated the match between her and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova on Monday May 17, but that didn’t happen.
She was crushed by Anna Karolina, after she was given a period infringement while hoping that substantial winds will fade away prior to serving.
Venus Williams reprimanded the winds for her loss. She said:
“If the wind blows, then I can’t hit the ball,” she told the umpire. “I can’t control God, I can’t control the wind. I’m just saying that if the wind blows, there is nothing I can do about that. I can’t control God, talk to him,” she added, pointing to the sky.
The seven-time grand-slam champion lost 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 to the 125th-positioned Schmiedlova at the Emilia-Romagna Open in Parma, as she looks for some form going into the following week’s French Open.
Venus has been hit by injuries this season and is without a win since her first round triumph over Kirsten Flipkens at the Australian Open in February.
