Vice President Bawumia Pledges To Protect The Free SHS Programme..

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged that if elected president, he will safeguard and enhance the Free Senior High School (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs.

Dr. Bawumia elaborated on the significance of these educational initiatives for Ghana’s future development and supporters at the NPP’s manifesto launch in Takoradi on Sunday 18 August.

He spoke about his administration’s commitment to ensuring that every Ghanaian child, regardless of their financial situation, receives a high-quality education.

Dr. Bawumia said that his administration would continue to invest in and improve the Free SHS and TVET programs, which are essential to the country’s educational system.

Dr. Bawumia said,

“Our government will protect and enhance the Free SHS/TVET programs, which are transforming lives and improving outcomes for millions. Since the introduction of Free SHS/TVET, enrolment has increased by 83%. We are building the foundation for a well-educated and prosperous society”, Dr. Bawumia stated.

He said there are plans to support financing, further develop framework, and acquaint new educational programs to meet current work market needs. Veep also said it would make it easier to get into TVET programs and hire more teachers with better working conditions.

He emphasized the positive effects of the programs, noting that gender parity has been achieved and that more girls now have access to secondary education. He argued that society as a whole will gain long-term advantages from this advancement.
