He has now scored in seven consecutive matches across all competitions and eight consecutive Serie A matches, equaling Cristiano Ronaldo’s record in the league. Saturday’s goal came in the 28th minute.
Osimhen has scored 10 goals in his last 11 games since January 8th, while CR7 set a record in February 2020 when he became the first player to score in eight consecutive Serie A games, scoring 11 goals during that stretch.
Osimhen holds the record for most Serie A goals scored by African players, but that record is likely to fall in the coming weeks. Osimhen is followed by Liberia president George Weah, the only African player to win the Ballon d’Or.
Osimhen has already scored 43 goals in 71 league games since signing for the Partenopei from Napoli for a reported $96 million in 2020. Weah has scored 46 goals in 114 Serie A games for AC Milan.
