Because Viktor Gyokeres is one of the world’s most prolific forwards, the new manager of Manchester United might want to sign him.
In a little more than a season at Sporting Lisbon, the 26-year-old Gyokeres has performed admirably for Amorim, and a move to one of Europe’s top five leagues appears likely next summer rather than in January.
Viktor Gyokeres has become one of the most discussed player since the announcement of Ruben Amorim’s transition to Man United.
In less than a season under Ruben Amorim, the Sporting forward has excelled.
Having said that, Amorim, the new manager of Man United, may try to bring this “dangerous” striker with him.
This season, Viktor Gyokeres has scored 12 goals in nine games for Sweden in the Primeira Liga. He has scored two goals in three games for Sweden in the Champions League and four goals in four games for Sweden in the Nations League, where he and Alexander Isak have a partnership that could be dangerous.
He has 54 goals and 19 assists in 62 games for Sporting. Fans all over the world have copied Gyokeres’ goal celebration, in which he covers half of his face with his hands to resemble a mask, and debated its origin.
Four years ago, he moved from Brighton to Swansea, and he was incredible.
Gyokeres was fortunate to have Chris Badlan on his side. Although Badlan held a similar position at Coventry from 2018 to 2022, he was familiar with Gyokeres from his time playing in the Swedish club IF Brommapojkarna’s under-17 team. Badlan is now head of recruitment at Aberdeen.
Gyokeres made the move to Brighton and then went on loan to the German club St. Pauli for the 2019-20 season, where he really started to get Badlan’s attention.
Gyokeres scored seven goals in 28 games while playing in Germany, but upon his return to England, he was still stuck on the runway. Despite his slow start, the club paid £1 million to acquire him from Brighton.
Gyokeres now has 54 goals in 62 games for Sporting, having scored four goals on Friday night.
Man United In Talks To Appoint Ruben Amorim As Their New Boss
Coventry’s Gyokeres was followed by Premier League teams because he scored 44 goals in 116 games.
Gyokeres knew exactly where he wanted to go from the beginning of his time at Coventry. He told the club’s recruitment staff that he would only consider offers from established Premier League clubs or high-level teams in Italy, Spain, Germany, France, or Portugal when interest in him started to grow.
In fact, the player has a tremendous amount of mental toughness and a lot of confidence on the field. Because of this, Gyokeres’ Sky Blue teammates refer to him as “a good team-mate.”
The Sweden international is always dedicated, both at training and on the field, and strives for improvement after each game.
Although he is very fast on the ball, unlike Kylian Mbappe, he does not stand out for his speed; but he combines pace with aggression.
Under Ruben Amorim’s direction, Gyokeres keeps getting better and better.
It will be fascinating if Gyokeres makes it to the Premier League. Even though he has a track record of scoring goals in Portugal, there is still some doubt about his ability to consistently perform for an English club competing in the Champions League.
