With the help of SpaceX’s Starlink satellite network, Virgin Atlantic is poised to become the first airline in the United Kingdom to provide free, fast, streaming-quality in-flight Wi-Fi throughout its whole widebody fleet.
All Boeing 787s, Airbus A350s, and A330-neo aircraft are part of the fleet-wide rollout. The installation is scheduled to start in late 2026 and be completed by the end of 2027.
Streaming-capable speeds will be available to passengers, making them perfect for Zoom, Netflix, YouTube, and more.
Every passenger in every cabin will have free Wi-Fi with no data caps.
Flyers have long complained about Wi-Fi’s poor speeds and expensive prices. Virgin’s action establishes a new benchmark for the European airline industry and could put pressure on other carriers, such as British Airways, to follow suit.
It is part of Virgin’s larger aim to develop into a “tech-forward, premium” airline. The airline is evolving into a high-end, tech-savvy enterprise that prioritizes comfort, connectivity, and unique experiences.
