All foreigners who are eligible to enter the U.S under the Visa Waiver Program will now be able to apply for an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) directly from their smartphones, according to an announcement made by the United States government.
According to VisaGuide, the ESTA Mobile App can be downloaded on all Android and iOS devices in 24 languages, making it simpler for those who require the document to be obtained, according to VisaGuide.World.
All applicants will be able to start their ESTA application by using the new mobile app.
They will also be able to send the request for ESTA, answer eligibility questions, add personal information, and upload a live selfie video to prove their identity. They will also be able to scan an image of their passport to verify it.
Those who require ESTA will also be able to make changes to their profile and check the status of their application at any time, in addition to being able to do all of these things inside the app.
The official ESTA website, which has been the only way to request the document up until this point, is still accessible, despite the fact that the mobile app is already available. However, the authorities would still have to disclose whether the application process for an ESTA will entirely be carried out through the mobile app.
The electronic ESTA program determines visitors’ eligibility to enter the United States without a visa.
Total Number Of Schengen Visa Applications, Rejections And More
Under the Visa Waiver Program, citizens of 40 countries who wish to enter the United States must first complete the ESTA. Even if a person meets the VWP’s other requirements, they cannot enter the US if they do not have a valid ESTA.
A 90-day stay in the United States is allowed for any foreign national with an ESTA. This means that, depending on the reason for their entry, those who intend to stay for a longer period of time must apply for a visa.
All applicants must demonstrate citizenship in one of the forty countries in the Visa Waiver Program in order to be eligible for the ESTA. In addition, they must demonstrate that they are traveling to the US for business or tourism purposes and that they do not possess a valid visitor visa.
A valid e-passport for more than six months after the intended departure from the United States is also required of applicants.
