
Ghana’s Black Starlets reached the semi-final of the WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations after their 2-0 win over Benin on Tuesday, May 21.
Theophilus Ayamga and Mark Kagawa Mensah scored in the first half for Laryea Kingston’s team, which topper Group A. Kagawa Mensah scored after 19 minutes of play when he lobbed the ball over the Benin goalkeeper.
Godfred Sarpong did a great job scoring the goal by pressing his opponent and forcing him to make a mistake before Joseph Narbi beat two markers to pass the ball to Mensah.
After three minutes, Theophilus Ayamga multiplied the lead for Ghana.
Ayamga, the number 10 player, sent in a low strike that beat Benin’s goalkeeper after making beautiful passes between his teammates.

Michael Armah, the goalkeeper for Ghana, almost misplaced a pass after spending too much time on it, but he recovered in time to save the game.
Satelites’ Benjamin Tsevanyo could have made it three preceding the break, but his work from a free kick went directly over the crossbar.
The Starlets held a two-goal advantage going into the break over the other team. Ghana clutched on to secure the three points.
