The Ghana U-20 team— the Black Satellites, were able to salvage a 2-2 draw against Benin in their opening match of the WAFU B U-20 Cup of Nations, thanks to Jerry Afriyie’s brace.
Both teams in the Group A match were determined to get off to a good start, but neither could get all three points.
Jerry Afriyie, an attacker, scored the goal that gave Ghana the lead. Modeste Konoudji and Gabriel Moulero scored in Benin’s strong response to overturn the scoreline and give Benin a 2-1 lead before the break.
Both teams made inroads into the game during the second half, which was marked by a lot of aggression.
The Black Stars’ Problems Are Bigger Than We Think
After trailing for most of the half, the Black Satellites finally made a comeback in the dying minutes when Jerry Afriyie scored again from 12 yards out to make it 2-2.
The Ghana U-20 team will now prepare for their next match against Niger U-20 on Sunday, October 20.
The Black Satellites have no doubt that they will win the tournament.
