WAFU U-20: Ghana Beat Ivory Coast To Book A Spot At Next Year’s Big Competition

Jerry Afriyie scored an amazing penalty kick in the second half for Ghana to complete a remarkable 2-1 comeback victory over Cote D’voire on Sunday, October 27, 2024, in the WAFU B U20 Championship semi-final.

The Ivorians took an early lead through Konan Loukou, but Ghana equalized with a deflected corner kick to end the first half 1–1.

After converting a stunning penalty kick early in the second half, Jerry Afriyie, who leads the competition with four goals, stepped in to complete the comeback.

In the end, the Black Satellites prevailed and advanced to the Final.

The Black Satellites are now guaranteed a spot in the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations thanks to their victory.

Only the finalists will advance to the Africa U20 Cup of Nations in 2025, which is qualified through the WAFU B U20 Championship.

In addition, the four semifinalists will automatically qualify for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile through this 2025 U20 AFCON.
