In the Ashanti region, specifically in Kumasi, the Ashanti Festival 2025 is currently taking place. The Akwasidae Festival is the focal point of this lively celebration of Ashanti culture and tradition that takes place in the Ashanti capital.

The traditional Akan calendar dictates that the Akwasidae Festival takes place on Sundays every six weeks. The following dates are set for Akwasidae in 2025:​

January 19, March 2,13 April, May 25, July 6, August 17, 28 September, November 9, and December 21st​.

These celebrations take place in the Manhyia Palace, where guests pay their respects to the Asantehene (Ashanti King) in a lavish durbar that includes traditional drumming, dance, and vibrant costumes.​

The Ashanti Festival 2025 features a number of cultural events in addition to the customary Akwasidae celebrations:​

April 13: A fashion exhibition in Rattray Park from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, followed by a fashion night from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and an Akwasidae/Yɛkɔsom festival at Manhyia from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.​

April 20: Ashanti Dramalogue, which will take place at the KNUST CCB Auditorium from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM and include performances by Kumawood All Stars, Kejetia vs. Makola, stand-up comedy, and a stage drama.​

April 21: From 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Manhyia will host a fundraising event in association with the Heal Komfo Anokye Team.​
