Following a review of the applications, the Steering Committee has approved a list of applicants for the African Development Bank President position.
On May 29, 2025, during the AfDB’s Annual Meeting in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, an election will be held to choose his successor.
The following are the candidates on the official list for the next election:
Amadou Hott (Senegal): A former minister in the Senegalese government and former AfDB vice president.
Zambian physician Dr. Samuel Munzele Maimbo: Currently, he serves as the World Bank Group’s Vice President for Budget, Performance Review, and Strategic Planning.
Former Mauritania Minister of Economy and Finance Sidi Ould TAH is currently the Managing Director of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA).
