Will Céline Dion Perform In The 2025 Eurovision Contest?

After 37 years since her historic victory, Céline Dion is likely going to make a comeback to the Eurovision stage in Switzerland.

According to reports, the singer is negotiating a comeback to Eurovision, which helped her establish her career abroad.

As per the Sun, the people behind the upcoming singing competition are eager for Dion to return to the stage in May 2025. The performance takes place in Switzerland, where the renowned vocalist won over forty years ago.

Reports say, Reto Peritz and Moritz Stadler, the show is executive producers, have confirmed contacting Dion’s team to talk about her participation in this year’s Eurovision. However, mostly due to the 56-year-old music legend’s health issues, there has not been any formal confirmation as of yet.

“We won’t know until a few weeks beforehand whether she feels fit enough,” the outlet’s source said.

In her 2024 documentary, Dion disclosed that her stiff person syndrome, which impairs vocal chords and mobility, prevented her from performing. But when she appeared at the Paris Olympics and sang an angelic version of the French classical ballad Hymne a l’amour (Hymn to Love) in front of the Eiffel Tower, she shocked admirers everywhere.

When Dion won the 1988 tournament for Switzerland, she was just 20 years old. When Nemo’s song, The Code, took first place last year, it was Switzerland’s final Eurovision victory until 2023.

Nemo, a singer-rapper from Switzerland who was born in 1999, was the first openly non-binary performer to win the singing competition. Additionally, they were the third winner in history to win for Switzerland.

Celine Dion Hopes for a Better 2025

Eurovision is known for showcasing well-known international celebrities. Madonna and Justin Timberlake have both performed at intervals in the past. It is the world’s largest and most established music competition on television.

Countries submit unique songs to be performed live in this competition, which was inspired by Italy’s Sanremo Music Festival. The winner is chosen by a vote from each country.

ABBA’s Waterloo won the 1974 Eurovision competition, while Céline Dion’s song Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi, composed by Swizz composers, won the 1988 competition.
