As the Chinese tech giant seeks to expand its product line beyond smartphones, Xiaomi is about to launch a brand-new pair of augmented reality glasses.
Gesture controls are available on the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition.
It will join Microsoft’s HoloLens and Google Glass Enterprise as augmented reality products if Xiaomi launches the product officially.
At Mobile World Congress 2023, Xiaomi unveiled its Xiaomi AR Glass Discovery Edition. The concept glasses are compatible with augmented reality software.
Xiaomi stated that the glasses are currently concept technology. Digital media that can be layered over the real world in front of a person is referred to as “augmented reality.”
In an effort to expand its product line beyond smartphones, Xiaomi unveiled a pair of prototype augmented reality glasses on Monday.
The company stated that the glasses are merely a concept technology and will not yet be available for purchase. However, the company’s intention to enter the market was highlighted by its announcement at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the world’s largest mobile industry trade show.

Meanwhile, neither virtual reality nor augmented reality headsets have been officially acknowledged or introduced by Apple. Bloomberg said this year that Apple will show off its mixed reality headset this spring and start shipping it to people in the fall of 2023.
According to Xiaomi, its wireless augmented reality glasses are lightweight. Additionally, Xiaomi claimed that the device has a “retina-level display” so that users can see virtual objects as clearly as they would like a real one.
How to Make Use of It:
The company, which has its headquarters in Beijing, China, also stated that users of the headset can carry out tasks by using gesture control. While wearing the glasses, users would raise their hands in front of them and then move their hands and fingers in specific ways to perform a task. “The thumb sliding on the index finger is used to enter and exit applications,” Xiaomi stated.
The hope is that by using this, you won’t have to touch your phone anymore.
The company said,
“This kind of interaction showcases one of the directions that Xiaomi believes human-computer interaction will take in the future,” the company said.
The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro, the company’s flagship smartphones, were also launched globally on Sunday, according to the company.
The launch of Xiaomi’s new augmented reality glasses doesn’t feel like much more than a stake in the ground.
