The General Secretary of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU), Morgan Ayawine, says the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has done greatly well for its digitization drive.

As indicated by Mr. Ayawine, it is a “great drive” that has enormously facilitated the benefits guarantee process for retired folks.

At the most recent Employers’ Breakfast Meeting in Accra, he made these remarks. Mr. Ayawine noticed that before, retired people faced serious challenges in accessing their benefits, and frequently traveling long distances to Accra to process their claims.

“The digitization drive has made it easier for pensioners to access their benefits without having to go through the hassle of traveling to Accra,” Mr. Ayawine said.

“This is a commendable effort by SSNIT, and we urge them to continue investing in digital infrastructure to further improve the pension claim process.”

The ICU General Secretary also emphasized the significance of SSNIT’s investment activities, stating that the Trust’s investments have a greater impact on the utilization of Ghanaian workers’ contributions.
