YouStart Provides GH₵51.8M In Grants To Thousands Of Entrepreneurs

Under the YouStart Ghana Jobs and Skills Project (GJSP), 4,173 young entrepreneurs have received GH¢51,866,369.31 from the government through the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA).

After a thorough selection process, the beneficiaries were chosen from each of the 16 regions.

The initiative was hailed by Mrs. Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), as evidence of the government’s dedication to entrepreneurship.

She clarified that in addition to financial aid, recipients also received training and mentoring in different districts.

She said that some recipients received as much as GH¢30,000.

“The beneficiaries included entrepreneurs who needed financial support to expand and others who are starting afresh,” Mrs. Yankey-Ayeh continued.

According to her, applicants submitted their business plans for evaluation to an impartial committee in order to guarantee a fair selection process.

“This is the third and largest phase of disbursement. There will be monitoring, along with mentoring, to ensure beneficiaries use the support appropriately. We need to track job creation,” she said.

Mrs. Yankey-Ayeh denied claims that the distribution, which is taking place just 24 days before the election on December 7, is a vote-buying or political ploy.

YouStart Has Now Been Officially Agreed On With These Banks
