Seasoned journalist Omanhene Kwabena Asante, co-host of Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, has sharply criticized the Bank of Ghana over its controversial decision to dismiss over 100 staff members, only to reinstate them within a week.

Speaking on the Friday, June 27, 2025 edition of the program, Omanhene called out what he described as a “reckless and insensitive blunder” by the Central Bank.

“The Bank of Ghana has goofed big time. What checks did you do before taking such a decision? Have you considered the trauma and emotional damage these workers went through within that short period?” he asked passionately.

He argued that such missteps by a high-ranking financial institution undermine public confidence and reveal serious gaps in administrative due diligence.

Omanhene further questioned whether the leadership of the Bank properly evaluated the legal, psychological, and reputational implications before taking such a drastic step.

The matter has triggered widespread public debate, with many calling for transparency and accountability over the incident.

Reactions From Affected Staff:

One reinstated staff member, who spoke under anonymity, shared:

“I was shocked and devastated. My family was in tears. Being called back a few days later doesn’t erase what we went through.”

Another employee added:

“How do you treat professionals this way without clear communication? It was humiliating.”

Several others have called for an official apology, and some unions are reportedly considering legal redress or demanding internal investigations into how the decision was reached and reversed so quickly.
