Kufuor Played a Role in NPP’s Fall – Solomon Owusu

Movement for Change’s Solomon Owusu has accused former President John Agyekum Kufuor of being a factor in the current downfall of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

On July 15, 2025, Owusu appeared on the Angel Morning Show with Saddick Adams and chastised Kufuor for supporting those he feels are better suited to support the party but in actual fact, not suitable to lead, especially Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He claims that although Kufuor did not back his own friend and former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen, who later left the NPP to establish the Movement for Change Party, he did completely support Dr. Bawumia, whom he believes has the ability to propel the party to greater heights.

Owusu charged that the former president was self-centered and only cared about his own interests rather than the party’s and the country’s overall well-being.
