The Government is highly committed to ensuring the senior national football team, the Black Stars, secures qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This assurance was given by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, who emphasized the administration’s readiness to provide all necessary support to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the team.

Speaking at a recent event in Accra, Mr. Debrah highlighted the importance of national unity and pride that football brings to Ghanaians, stressing that the Black Stars’ presence at the global tournament remains a top priority for the government.

“The government is ever ready to support the Ghana Football Association and the Black Stars in their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Football has always been a unifying force in our country, and we are committed to doing everything possible to see Ghana return to the world stage,” he stated.

He added that beyond financial backing, the government will also collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the team gets the best technical and logistical support throughout the qualification campaign.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, promises to be one of the most competitive tournaments in recent history, with an expanded format that will feature 48 teams.

A Letter From Black Stars Captain Jordan Ayew To The Outstanding Ghanaian Fans

Ghana, a four-time African champion, will be aiming to make its fifth appearance at the World Cup after missing out on qualification in 2018 but making a return in 2022. The nation’s best performance came in 2010, when the Black Stars reached the quarter-finals in South Africa.

The Ghana Football Association is expected to announce detailed plans for the qualifiers in the coming weeks, including coaching strategies, player preparations, and friendly matches to keep the team in top shape.

As anticipation builds across the country, Ghanaians are hopeful that with the government’s backing and strong national support, the Black Stars will once again make the nation proud on the world stage.
