Resuming her esteemed position with the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS), renowned Ghanaian media personality and storyteller Anita Erskine has been named a jury for the 2025 International Emmy Awards. The statement, which was announced on July 28, 2025, emphasizes the expanding presence of African creatives on international stages and demonstrates Erskine’s growing importance in the global television business.

A prestigious panel of more than 1,000 television professionals from around the globe will include Erskine, a renowned broadcaster, producer, and executive producer, to assess exceptional television shows created and first shown outside of the US. IATAS organizes the International Emmy Awards, which honor achievement in 16 categories of international television. The winners will be revealed during the gala presentation on November 24, 2025, in New York City.

Erskine posted an emotional message on social media on July 28 expressing her sincere appreciation for the chance to serve as a jury once more.

“I’m filled with deep gratitude to the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for bringing me back as a Juror for the 2025 Emmys,” she wrote.

Reflecting on her career trajectory, she added,

“From starting as an on-screen talent to becoming a Storyteller, Producer, Executive Producer, and Editor, I’ve learned that you don’t grow by accident, you grow by intention.” Erskine described her previous experience as a juror as “a labor of love” that was both “deeply humbling” and “enlightening,” emphasizing the significance of the role in shaping global television narratives.

Erskine’s selection comes at a time when African media professionals are gaining increased recognition on international platforms. Notably, Ghanaian-British media entrepreneur Peace Hyde has also been named a juror for the 2025 cycle, further amplifying Ghana’s representation in the global entertainment industry.

Hyde, known for producing Netflix’s first African reality series, Young, Famous & African, announced her appointment on social media, calling it a “God thing” and expressing excitement about contributing to global television excellence.

The rigorous International Emmy Awards judging process consists of three rounds of evaluation: the first round, which takes place online between April and May; the semi-final phase, which takes place at live screening events throughout the world between June and September; and the final round, which takes place prior to the nominee announcements in September.
