EOCO Moves To Shatta Wale’s Residence: Here’s What Happened

On August 5, 2025, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) conducted a raid on the home of Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale because of doubts about the legitimacy of some of his expensive cars.

According to reports, EOCO had been keeping an eye on Shatta Wale for a while because they believed that several of the cars he owned, including a Lamborghini Urus and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, might be connected to theft or fraudulent activity.

Although specifics regarding the evidence or conclusions are still unknown, the raid was a component of an inquiry into these issues. Shatta Wale openly denounced the operation as needless and degrading, and he charged Raymond Archer, the Executive Director of EOCO, with using excessive force, including sending armed soldiers to the scene.

His home in East Legon was the site of the raid.

On August 5, 2025, Shatta Wale turned to social media to vent his annoyance and rage at the operation, even though it is unclear exactly when the raid occurred. He accused Raymond Archer, the Executive Director of EOCO, of planning an unwarranted and degrading raid with armed people in a string of Facebook posts.

According to Shatta Wale, the operation was “uncalled for” and might harm the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) reputation. He also implied that such activities could affect the party’s political standing over the following four years. He added,

“EOCO BOSS, THE PRESIDENT OF GHANA DIDNT PUT YOU IN THAT OFFICE TO COME AND HUMILIATE THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY..REMEMBER GOD NO SLEEP!!”

During their raid at Shatta’s house, EOCO examined a number of cars, including Rolls-Royce, Audi, Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, which were allegedly illegally brought into Ghana from Europe and North America.

Suspicion that some of Shatta Wale’s cars were among those being investigated may have led to EOCO’s raid, given his public exhibition of a vast collection of luxury automobiles, including a Rolls-Royce Cullinan worth over $500,000.

This event also comes after earlier claims in June 2025 that Interpol and EOCO had allegedly seized Shatta Wale’s yellow Lamborghini as part of their investigations into Ghanaian businesses who were allegedly cheating the American government and citizens. Shatta Wale’s announcement of the acquisition of a new purple Lamborghini truck following the purported seizure garnered additional media attention.

Shatta Wale has already been the subject of EOCO scrutiny. In order to reclaim properties connected to Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1), the troubled CEO of Menzgold Ghana Limited, EOCO officers visited the residences of singers affiliated to Zylofon Media in January 2019, including Shatta Wale.

The goal of the 2019 operation was to recoup money lost in a gold dealership scandal by seizing assets. Furthermore, rumors of Shatta Wale’s personal connections to financial investigations have been stoked by his recent public defense of his buddy Kofi Boat, who was detained by the FBI in June 2025 on suspicion of participating in a $100 million fraud scheme.

Despite Shatta Wale’s denials of any involvement in fraudulent activities, the EOCO raid’s timing has led some to question whether it is connected to broader probes into fraud networks.
