Stanbic Bank Donates To Support Children Of Crash Victims

The newly created Children Support Fund, which was created to offer financial support to the children of the victims of the recent helicopter disaster near Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region, has received GH¢500,000 from Stanbic Bank Ghana.

At the State Funeral on August 15, 2025, which was held in remembrance of the eight brave soldiers who died while serving the country, President John Dramani Mahama made the announcement.

The bank sent its condolences to the relatives of the deceased, particularly the children who have lost their parents, in a statement signed by Kwamina Asomaning, the bank’s chief executive.

“In the wake of the heartbreaking helicopter crash that claimed the lives of dedicated servicemen, our hearts go out to the families left behind, especially the children who now face life without their parents,” Mr. Asomaning stated.

The Chief Executive continued,

“We hope this contribution will serve not only as financial support, but as a message of hope, that these children are not alone, and that Ghana stands with them”.

Stanbic Bank also expressed gratitude to the President for establishing the Fund and promised to keep working together to make sure all children, no matter what their circumstances, have the chance to succeed.

When a military helicopter carrying top government officials and crew fell off radar on their way to Obuasi and tragically crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom area of the Ashanti Region on August 6, 2025, killing eight people, Ghana was plunged into a state of national grief.

The lives lost included Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Samuel Sarpong, National Democratic Congress Vice Chairman Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo.
