Africa Has Two Options To Secure A Better Future- Asantehene

According to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Africa has just two options: build the continent or lose it. He said, Africa must immediately rise above the odds to fight for a better future or be engulfed by its own problems.

The Ashanti King went on to say that since ideology is no longer relevant, Africa must get past its history of complaining and moral outrage.

He continued that, Africa must aspire to embrace a better future because the new horizon world does not tolerate the unproductive.

“We may still hold on to the belief that all men are created equal but in the world on the horizon, all nations are not equal. Equality is now a function of the balance sheet. National sovereignty is assumed by the power of the economy so either we begin and focus on building our own heaven or we perish in our own hell,” His Majesty said at a banquet held for King Mswati III on June 27, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace.

According to the Asantehene, in order to improve Africa, economies must be developed so they can compete with those of Europe, Asia, and the United States on an equal basis.

“This is no delusion. We can if we are. There is no land mass on planet Earth richer in the resources of nature than Africa. We have had an accumulation of human resources with the requisite education to manage any constructive economic venture and we are available to choose from models of development that have worked in countries in other continents and in circumstances not different from our own.”

He also talked about the embrace of science and technology, including artificial intelligence, the efficient use of natural resources to signal modernization, and the agricultural revolution that will transform pristine lands into the grannies of the new world.
