Mariah performed “Type Dangerous,” her first new song since 2018, before accepting her prize. She wore a metallic gold minidress, gold platform heels, and bold jewelry. Later, during the same set, she sang her 2005 hit song, “It is Like That.”
After being introduced by Busta Rhymes, Mariah joined Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg, and Kirk Franklin as recipients of the BET Ultimate Icon Award. She then urged her followers to “be a diva, be a boss,” embracing her history and accepting herself, in her heartfelt acceptance speech.
