
The Tourism Investments Forum 2025 under the theme— “Transforming Economies through Strategic Tourism Investments”, was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, from 16-18 September 2025.
The Government of Tajikistan (specifically the Committee for Tourism Development) in collaboration with UN Tourism (also known as UNWTO) put together this all important forum with the aim to:
▪︎ Explore and promote strategic tourism investments as a way to transform economies through sustainable, high-impact tourism sector development.
▪︎ Discuss how to attract investment into tourism infrastructure, improve service quality, and make Tajikistan’s tourism more competitive.
▪︎ Bring together stakeholders — government, private sector, investors, international organizations — to generate business partnerships, share trends in tourism investment, and identify opportunities, especially around nature / health & wellness / mountain tourism.
The event was attended by more than 200 businesses and organizations from 20 different countries. This comprises professionals, tourism ministries, top travel agency representatives, and investors.
The UNWTO Commission for Europe’s president, Simonida Kordić, was also present.
Sessions:
- Attracting & managing investments in Tajikistan’s tourism sector.
- Strategic partnerships; investor mindset & global investment outlook.
- Role of Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs), Free Zones in fostering tourism investments.
- Specific investment opportunity sessions like “Mountain, Health and Wellness Tourism”.
A social program, welcome receptions, a gala dinner, technical or site inspections, and various side activities were among the other attractions.
Global Tourism Recovery 2025: 1.4B Arrivals and New Hotspots Revealed
As part of a larger display, there was also “Relation to DITE-2025 / display” in between the activities listed above.
This is a significant move for Tajikistan to boost tourism-related foreign investment, diversify the economy, build infrastructure, and raise its status as a tourism destination.
It represents the global trend of tourism becoming more than merely hospitality, with connections to local culture, infrastructure, sustainability, wellness, and the environment.
